We born and live our lives as we will live forever, and we all end up leaving this world together with everything we have worked so hard for. Our houses, cars, and businesses.Nothing material that we call ours will follow us in the afterlife. So really, what is the meaning of life if everything we have worked so hard for vanishes in a blink of an eye?

As we go through life, we all grow and we evolve. Some people evolve in different ways than others, and some may even evolve at different rates than others.  People evolve at different rates depending on the time, energy, and honesty they put into their personal development.

Most people grow up in a society with a certain cultures and beliefs, which they follow until death put an end to their lives. There is never any space for questioning life, and in some cultures and religions questioning the already established beliefs can be understood as a sin. So if we are born to follow an already foreseen path… what is the meaning of reflection? Do we really evolve spiritually following an already existing path or religion? and is there really a correct path to follow?

Some people may disagree with the idea that you can speed up your evolution. From the religious end, many agrees that religion is there to answer these needs, and for scientist, science is the key. Nevertheless, the hunger for evolution is there in our DNA, deeply buried inside our souls, we all feel that life is much more than our eyes make us see.

Certain types of worms only have two senses, they can’t detect light, so even if we could explain what light is to them they could never understand it and if they had a rational mind they would probably call it BS. What if there are more possible senses than humans have to detect dimensions, spirits, dark matter… I am sure we have all heard a variation of this argument and it always kind of trips me up. Can we attend more senses evolving ourselves?

If so, how do we found the correct path of evolution? An evolution that would follow us for all eternity and that will not vanish in time? The truth is that the deeper you go inside yourself, the more knowledge and experience you gather, and the more you take time to become still and cleanse your energy field, the faster you are going to reach higher levels of consciousness and a deeper understanding of life.

1) Meditation

With the hectic pace and demands of modern life, many people feel stressed and over-worked. It often feels like there is just not enough time in the day to get everything done. Our stress and tiredness make us unhappy, impatient and frustrated. It can even affect our health. We are often so busy we feel there is no time to stop and meditate! But meditation actually gives you more time by making your mind calmer and more focused. Spend as little as 5 minutes a day meditating.  For just fifteen minutes, sit with your eyes closed with no intentions, desires, expectations, or attachments.  Put your to-do-list aside, and sit somewhere quite.  Just be.  If the mind won’t settle down, bring your attention to your breathing or to the sensation of the air on your skin. Meditation is the best way to speed up your evolution because it exposes mental habits, thought patterns, and false beliefs that otherwise would have went unnoticed. We also learn how to transform our mind from negative to positive, from disturbed to peaceful, from unhappy to happy.

2) Reflection

Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.

Reflection is the art of pondering on one’s virtues and faults. It is also the ability to reflect on the “here and now”, on your feelings and thoughts. This also includes reflecting on the thoughts, emotions and the feelings of others. This can help to improve oneself as you assess and reflect upon the decisions you made in life. Use your reflections as an opportunity to make profound and a constructive or positive change in your life. Reflect, and reflect honestly. Am I really happy with myself? Do I really love myself? Am I being the change the world needs? How can I be more compassionate, a better listener, or more in integrity? Life will not be as joyful unless you take the time to call yourself out in areas that need improvement. Even though it may be painful to put yourself under your own microscope, an unexamined life is not worth living.

3) Travel

Traveling the world, can be one of the most rewarding and fulfilling activities. You’ll get to experience so many things, get out of your comfort zone, meet so many people and create memories for life. You get in touch with different people, religions, cultures and beliefs. Traveling can enrich your knowledge about life. See the world, and experience different cultures.  In doing so, you will realise that perspective is subjective. You live from a very specific geographic, cultural, and personal point of view. Travelling humbles you and makes you understand life differently.

4) Research and studies

The situation has changed today. We are indeed lucky to have information about anything we would want to know to conduct serious research and studies. For 5000 years ago, the only knowledge that was available to human beings took the form of stories. There was no internet, public libraries, or schools. In front of you right now is a tool that allows you to learn anything you want in a matter of seconds. Around you you have Internet with infinite information about anything you need, thousands of books on science, history, and spirituality fill the shelves.  The more knowledge you have, the richer your perspective becomes.  Reading gives you a broader frame of reference in which to contemplate life’s biggest questions.

Imagine how you would feel at the end of your life with double the amount of meditation, reflection, travelling, and knowledge? How much better would your life be if you started to incorporate more of these things into your lifestyle? Spiritual evolution is a process that requires us to put in the time, effort, and energy into our own personal development. It’s about creating yourself. And you can only create yourself if you use your will to initiate the changes you want to see in yourself. Your spirituality will be the only thing we will bring with us to our next journey after leaving this life.
